Koen Verbeke

Koen Verbeke is the CTO of CRANIUM, focusing on knowledge, solutions, and delivery. Koen started his career as a consultant and has almost ten years of experience in privacy, information security, and data protection. He has performed privacy scans, security audits, risk assessments, and has taken on the roles of DPO and CISO at multiple international organizations. He holds extensive knowledge of GDPR, NIS 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and other regulations. He later played a key role in building out CRANIUM’s security division, overseeing sales, account management, and profit & loss.

His educational background includes an MSc in Commercial Engineering and Information Technology from KU Leuven. He has obtained certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, Security+, and a Mini MBA in Business Essentials. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Big Data & Analytics. Koen is a native Dutch speaker, fluent in English, and proficient in French. His best friend would describe him as curious and driven, always eager to discover new things. Passionate about lifelong learning, Koen continuously updates his knowledge to stay ahead in the field.

Outside of work, you can find him in nature, previously skydiving and now mostly hiking in forests.
