What is a CRANIUM AI Officer?
An AI Compliance Officer takes the lead in ensuring that AI systems and technologies are developed, deployed/used ethically and responsibly within the organisation. They are responsible for mitigating potential risks that come with AI technologies and address ethical concerns, as well as help adhere to regulations.
What to expect from a CRANIUM AI Officer?
Together, we determine the time needed for the AI Officer to achieve your objectives, based on your organisation’s needs and resources.
We start with a kick-off meeting to introduce our AI officer. They will then continuously catalogue and monitor your AI practices in line with current legislations. Communication is key! You can expect:
- A bi-weekly or monthly AI Status Report for key stakeholders.
- An annual AI Activities Plan and a Report presented to your management.
- An annual Review and Update of your AI-related documentation.
The AI Officer will act as a trusted advisor and point of contact for AI-related matters, while promoting transparent and compliant AI practices.

Frequently Asked Questions.
How does an AI Officer differ from a Data Protection Officer (DPO)?
While DPOs are legally mandated under GDPR and focus primarily on personal data protection, AI Officers are not currently required by law and oversee all aspects of AI governance, ethics, and compliance. In organisations where AI processes personal data, the AI Officer and DPO role might overlap, or they work together.
Can an AI Compliance Officer help with existing AI systems, or only new implementations?
An AI Officer can assist with both. In many cases, our AI officer will start with creating an overview of all AI systems available within the organisation and create a register. From there it depends on the scope.
Can we combine DPO as a Service with AI or Legal?
Of course! We can adapt our offering to your specific needs or requests. Reach out to us and we’ll see what we can do for you.
