Collegial. Empowered. Expert.
That’s how Florence Devenyi sums up life at CRANIUM. Starting her journey as a consultant with a background in the public sector, Florence quickly discovered a need for variety, the power of people, and the freedom to grow. Now a Senior Privacy Consultant and People Business Manager, she reflects on what sets CRANIUM apart, how she rose through the ranks, and why there truly is no age to become a consultant.
You mention growth and freedom. How did you experience growing from consultant to manager?
I started at CRANIUM in 2020. I had some experience in the public sector, so I began in that area, but consultancy was something completely new for me. Pretty soon, I started working in other industries too and realised how much I love the variety. Some people prefer to specialise, but I enjoy the challenge of adapting to new environments.
At some point, there was an internal opportunity. I had already been supporting my business manager, so I was encouraged to apply. I stepped into the role and later added the people manager responsibility. For me, both sides—business and people—go hand in hand. Whether I’m helping consultants grow or working with clients, it’s all about building relationships. That’s what gives me energy.
Speaking of energy, what moments have really energised you in your CRANIUM career?
One that stands out is when we won a major international project. It wasn’t the biggest in revenue, but in terms of structure and complexity, it was huge. I wasn’t executing the project directly, but I managed the account, and seeing it come through was incredibly rewarding. I still remember getting the confirmation while I was at the dentist. It made my day.
Another thing I’m proud of is how we handled the past year. There was barely anyone without a project; we found great projects for almost every consultant. That’s not something you can take for granted. It shows that our structure is solid and that we’re a well-oiled machine.
You’ve mentioned variety. How do you handle jumping between sectors?
I’ve worked in public services, finance, manufacturing…you name it. While some sectors have their own legal nuances. My approach has always been: know your basics, build from there, and ask questions. I read up, learn by doing, and rely on colleagues when needed. That’s a key part of our culture—no one works on an island. If you’re unsure, there’s always someone to check in with.
That culture sounds key. What makes CRANIUM different from other places you’ve worked?
For me, it’s the combination of freedom and support. Coming from the public sector, I immediately noticed the difference. Back then, I was often the youngest by at least a decade. At CRANIUM, we’re mostly around the same age and share the same mindset. It creates a great dynamic.
What also stands out is how people-focused we are. Our product is people. That’s our core business, and it reflects in every aspect of how we work. There’s a genuine investment in each other, and that makes a huge difference.
It’s interesting to hear that from someone with experience. What would you say to other senior professionals who are considering consultancy?
There’s absolutely no age limit. I know now that I’ll probably stay in consultancy for the rest of my career. For senior professionals, it’s an opportunity to bring in your knowledge and help others grow. You can support juniors, deepen your expertise, and see more than just one client or one case.
At CRANIUM, we encourage experienced consultants to contribute beyond delivery—think content creation, internal training, project support. You can evolve into a project lead, acting as a go-to person for your team and clients. There’s a lot of potential here if you want to have impact.
You did leave CRANIUM for a while. What made you return?
The contrast was clear from day one. I moved to a larger company where the structure was very different. The role felt too static, and I quickly realised I missed the variety, the energy, and most of all, the people.
At CRANIUM, there’s a culture of entrepreneurship and trust that’s hard to replicate. Leaving gave me perspective—it helped me see how strong our way of working really is. I came back with even more motivation.
What are you looking forward to?
We’re growing fast, and that brings exciting challenges. I’m especially looking forward to seeing us grow internationally. We already serve global clients, but now we’re hiring abroad, expanding structurally, and developing more international services.
On a personal level, I’m excited to keep growing alongside the company. I look forward to working with new talent, exploring new projects, and continuing to build strong connections with prospects and clients.
Let’s wrap up with some good advice. What would you tell someone who’s thinking about joining CRANIUM?
Go for it. Especially if you’re a senior profile like me. Being a CRANIUM consultant is very rewarding.
