Bavo Van den Heuvel

Bavo has an exceptional background. In addition to founding RESPONSUM, he is the founder of CRANIUM and a board member. Bavo works for CRANIUM Campus as a trainer and consultant on data protection. He also trained hundreds of upcoming Data Protection Officers (DPOs) at the Data Protection Institute, where he also co-founded the organisation.
Bavo is a public speaker and business engineer. Among the many certificates he possesses are those for FIP, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, and CIPP/US. In addition, he holds certifications as a Health and Safety Officer (level 3), Forensic Computer Auditor, and ISO27001 Lead Auditor. He has been recognised by the Belgian government as a Court Expert since July 2022.
Bavo is recognised as a true specialist in applied privacy (since 2004) and IT security. Since his final paper, completed with magna cum laude honours in 1994-1996, he has also been an expert in biometrics and has been actively engaged in this sector. As a consultant at CRANIUM, he faces the daily challenge of translating the data protection needs between legal/business and IT security professionals. For him, CRANIUM represents more than just compliance.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Bavo enjoys several hobbies, including photography, stand-up comedy, improvisation, and storytelling.
